The Norwegian maritime zone is 6 times larger than the land areas. Therefore, the maritime zone is very important for the value creation of Norway. Currently, Ocean Technology has been defined as one of the most important strategic areas in Norway. Based on the current technologies, one should explore how the existing research abilities can be used for creating new innovative products for both research and industry communities. This presentation will give an introduction to University of Stavanger, Marine and Offshore Master Degree Program, Ocean Technology Innovation Cluster Stavanger, as well as show the research work related to Ocean Technology, which are currently focused at University of Stavanger. The research topics, which will be covered in the presentation, are: Dynamic analysis of offshore fish cages/nets; Dynamic analysis of offshore wind turbines; Marine lifting operations and installations; Vortex-induced vibrations; CFD with turbulence modelling; Flows around marine pipelines, wind turbine foundations, ROVs and subsea structures; Internal flow in subsea piping system and valves; Scour around offshore structures; Free surface flow and wave kinematics.

Muk Chen Ong是挪威斯塔万格大学(UiS)海洋技术与海洋施工研究方向的教授及挪威技术科学院院士。他目前是UiS的海洋科技学术带头人,海洋科技创新中心主任,欧盟(EU)海洋技术子项目的负责人,海洋工程学科主任,以及挪威海上风机技术研究中心(NOWITECH)的主要研究员之一。目前已发表了120篇以上的国际期刊和国际会议论文。他是国际期刊《ASME Journal of Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering》的副主编,《Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Maritime Engineering》、《Journal of the Korean Society of Fisheries and Ocean Technology》、《Ocean Systems Engineering》的编委,International Conference on Ocean, Offshore and Arctic Engineering (OMAE),International Conference on Scour and Erosion (ICSE)和Conference on Computational Mechanics(MekIT)等国际会议科学委员会成员。他的研究领域包括:渔箱/渔网的动态分析;海洋起重操作和装置;浮式风力发电机的动态分析;涡激振动;CFD与湍流建模;海洋管道、风机基座、ROV和深海海底结构的流体结构互相作用;海底管道系统和阀门内部流动;海洋结构的冲刷;自由表面流动和波浪动力学。

Muk Chen Ong is a Professor in Marine Technology and Marine Operations at University of Stavanger(UiS), Norway and a member of Norwegian Academy of Technological Sciences(NTVA). He is currently Strategic Research Area Leader for Ocean, Leader of Ocean Technology Innovation Cluster Stavanger, EU Project Positioning Coordinator for Ocean Technology and Head of Marine and Subsea Technology Group at UiS. He is also a key researcher in Norwegian Research Centre for Offshore Wind Technology(NOWITECH). He has published over 120 international journal and conference papers. He is an Associate Editor of ASME Journal of Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering, an Editorial Board Member of Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Maritime Engineering, an Editorial Board Member of Journal of the Korean Society of Fisheries and Ocean Technology, and an Editorial Board Member of Ocean Systems Engineering(International Journal). He is also scientific committee members in International Conference on Ocean, Offshore and Arctic Engineering(OMAE), International Conference on Scour and Erosion(ICSE)and Conference on Computational Mechanics(MekIT).
