为营造浓厚的学术氛围，提升学生的科研能力，加强国际学术交流与合作，应大连海事大学轮机工程学院邀请，讲座教授——周同明教授于12月17日在线上作学术报告，题为《Experimental studies on the control of vortex shedding from a circular cylinder using screen shrouds》，学校相关学科众多师生参加了报告会，会议由轮机工程学院徐敏义教授主持。

周同明教授的报告主要介绍了如何用屏蔽罩控制圆柱脱落涡的实验研究。周同明教授首先从备受关注的深圳赛格大厦摇晃事件切入，介绍了VIV(Vortex-Induced Vibration : VIV)产生的原因和常见的控制策略，提出了使用屏蔽罩作为控制策略的研究目标，进而对研究过程及方法进行了详细的介绍，并且分析了相关结论。

报告结束后，在线师生积极提问，周同明教授耐心解答了大家提出的问题，并且就如何在我校进行VIV研究与在线师生进行了热烈的交流与讨论。

周同明教授简介：Professor Tongming Zhou has been in the area of fluid dynamics for more than 20 years. He obtained his PhD in 1999 in the area of Fluid Mechanics from The University of Newcastle (Australia). After completing his PhD, he worked as a post-doc fellow for about 2 years and then joined Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, as an assistant/associate professor. Since July 2007, he has been working with School of Civil, Environmental and Mining Engineering, The University of Western Australia. His main research interests include manipulation of vortex shedding and vortex-induced vibrations of cylindrical structures, renewable energy harnessing based on flow-induced structural vibrations, resonance of waves in the gap between a floating LNG facility and a LNG carrier and liquid sloshing in a partially-filled tank by conducting experiments on the hexapod.
